The 2025 Isle of Wight Show

ree

Once again, we were delighted to sponsor and attend this now established annual event at their Showground just to the north of Newport. It is not as large a Show as some on the mainland but there is a lot to see and enjoy, and the layout and space offered makes it a great experience for young or older visitors alike.

The three rings have constant entertainment or display – whether traditional bands, dog handling displays, vintage vehicles and tractors, the hounds, and horse show jumping.

There is a core area of farm animals (pigs, sheep, cattle, goats and poultry) also for show or simply to be admired by the public. Under cover too, so whether needing to shelter from the hot sun (as this year) or rain they are comfortable and able to look their best.

The trade stands offer a great variety of goods, and it was especially nice to see so many Island arts and crafts on display – too often the goods on show are multi-cultural from distant parts of the country, whilst visitors and buyers looking for gifts or souvenirs must appreciate the local touch – why else come to the Isle of Wight?

The food stalls too were varied well located good value – and hardly with a queue of customers no matter how busy they were. It was really impressive - and on both days of the show.

And the Showground itself is presented and maintained in a tidy well managed way – with a notable lack of litter, indicating that the /islanders are very conscientious as to how they respect their public places, or the Show team of helpers perform a very effective almost invisible service, keeping their site tidy. Those allocated to car park duty were also efficient and helpful – a trait of the whole Show

Congratulations and thanks to all concerned. We look forward to next year – come rain or shine…..
